Support the Chippewa Valley Brigade
-just by searching the Internet & shopping online!
Earn a penny for the Chippewa Valley Brigade every time you use the GoodSearch search engine in our name. It’s simple to do - and there are no forms to fill out.
Just go to GoodSearch.com, enter “Drum & Bugle Corps-Chippewa Valley” in the “Who do you search for?” field & click the Verify button. From then on, every time you use GoodSearch to search the Web, you will also be rasing money to support the Chippewa Valley Brigade. (And they have easy-to-install toolbars for IE, Firefox & Safari browsers to make it even easier for you!)
GoodSearch is a front-end to the Yahoo search engine that donates 50% of their advertising revenue (about a penny per search) to charity. Users just need to select their favorite charity and begin searching. The selected charity is stored as a cookie, so subsequent searches are automatically counted.
The really nice thing about GoodSearch is that there is no form to fill out with personal information - they don’t even want to know your name. The cookie is sufficient to credit each search to the Chippewa Valley Brigade.
A penny may not seem like much - but the more people who use GoodSearch in our name, the more money we make. Just 100 people, performing an average of 5 searches a day could raise over $1,800 a year for the Chippewa Valley Brigade!
Help the Brigade even more by going shopping!
Recently, GoodSearch has added donations based on online shopping - “GoodShop.” As with GoodSearch, users simply have to select the charity they wish to support & start shopping (if you’ve already selected “Drum & Bugle Corps - Chippewa Valley” as your charity for GoodSearch, you’re good to go with GoodShop.)
GoodShop donations vary by online vendor - and some vendors base the donation percentage on what you purchase - donations from e-bay purchases can be as high as 37.5%. There are currently 410 participating vendors, including iTunes, Land’s End, Macy’s, Petsmart & Wal*Mart.
To start using GoodShop, simply click the online vendor’s link on the GoodShop website. The donation amount doesn’t increase the cost of your purchase and you still get the same discounts, etc. you would get if you went directly to the vendor’s site. The vendors pay a commission to GoodSearch and a portion of that commission goes to the Chippewa Valley Brigade.
The entire idea of GoodSearch/GoodShop is to fund charitable donations through advertising revenue. This results in a new way for charities to benefit from people searching the Internet and shopping online.
